Consider the content of the category of sustainability in relation to socio-economic systems, reveals the basic conditions of stability of functioning of the regional industrial-economic complex. The author suggests his own approach to the assessment of the stability of the integral result of the food system of the region in terms of calorific value. The basic principles of construction of a mathematical model of sustainable provision of population of the region adequate food are presented.
